Compensation Structures and Consequence Management

The Department of Justice Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs emphasizes incentives for compliance and disincentives for non-compliance in the form of compensation structures. Although the System does not have compliance-based compensation structures, the System does hold employees accountable for non-compliance. Completed investigations into alleged misconduct are evaluated to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to support a conclusion regarding the complaint or allegation. If sufficient evidence exists, the responsible management official initiates the relevant disciplinary process. Disciplinary procedures for Civil Service and academic professional employees are set forth in existing System policies, state-wide Civil Service policies, and negotiated agreements. Disciplinary procedures for faculty are set forth in the University Statutes.
